The Blues by 5 Group was formed several years ago by a group of co-workers who are jazz enthusiasts.  The band’s name originated from their beginnings as a five piece.  The 60’s trumpet number, Blues By Five by Red Garland was a shared favorite, and seemed to be a good name for the group.

Over time the group has changed formats from gig to gig; from a quartet, to a seven piece ensemble, but have stayed true to playing the many varieties of jazz and blues they all enjoy.

The group’s song library includes pieces by Thelonius Monk, John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock, Benny Golson, Gershwin, Stanley Turrentine, and of course Red Garland.
